Attendee Info

Congratulations!

In this section of the site, we've put together all the information you need to know to make your experience at SiWC the best. Click HERE to sort out your room bookings with the hotel, find out more about the conference venue and how to get here. SiWC is a hive of activity from the moment it starts to the last round of applause at the final luncheon. We have events running from dawn until late — take in as many different experiences as you can!

  • Workshops and panels run throughout the day.
  • Blue pencil and pitch appointments run at the same time, so we just ask that you leave and re-enter as courteously as possible.
  • Since you don't register for workshops, if the one you are attending doesn't meet your needs, feel free to try another. There is plenty of seating, so go ahead and have a good time.
  • Stay in the hotel if you possibly can. This gives you the opportunity to rest well before the conference starts, and a place to go during the day if you need a break.
  • Temperatures can vary greatly from room to room, so dressing in layers is a good idea.
  • On a budget? Bring a friend and share a room. Split costs and share notes and handouts from different workshops.
  • Take the time for breaks. Go for a walk to get some fresh air, take a nap in your room, stay hydrated and take the time to stop and breathe now and then.
  • Have a great time! This is the place for anyone who is a serious writer, or has ever dreamed of writing.
  • Mingle and network with other writers and your favourite authors. Need a good line to meet new people? Ask "What do you write?"
  • Follow our blog to meet others interested in ride- and room-sharing. Or join us as a volunteer!

If you can't find the answer to your question in these pages, have a look at our FAQ. Still unsure? Send a note to coordinator kathychung@siwc.ca, and she will get back to you as soon as possible.
