We had a question a while back asking about the Sheraton Guildford, our conference venue. Why the concern? A picture is worth a thousand words:
Have no fear, the work is purely exteriour and will be finished before the conference! Here's the blurb from their website:
Hotel Renovations: October 22, 2007 - August 31, 2008
From October 22, 2007 through August 31, 2008, this hotel will undergo renovations to the exterior, improving sound proofing and energy efficient window systems. Construction will take place Monday through Friday between 7am and 4pm. Guest staying during these times should expect to hear construction noise. During this time the pool and whirlpool will be unavailable until July 1, 2008.

I telephoned and they will happily take reservations and give you the conference rate if you let them know you will be attending.
