Happy Tuesday to you!
Time to say hello to a couple more SiWC 2011 presenters. Today I'm going to introduce you to two: an author and an agent, both new to SiWC.
I'm thrilled to welcome both of them to our conference, and think you will be, too. Meet Robert Wiersema and Amy Burkhardt.
Robert J. Wiersema is the author of Before I Wake, a national bestseller, later published in 12 countries, The World More Full of Weeping (shortlisted for the Prix Aurora) and Bedtime Story, a bestseller in 2010. His latest book, Walk Like a Man: Coming of Age with the Music of Bruce Springsteen, will be released in 2011. A respected reviewer and critic, he lives in Victoria, where he is event coordinator at Bolen Books.
Agent Amy Burkhardt joined Kimberley Cameron & Associates as an intern in the fall of 2007, and brings experience as a critical reader, an editor, and a writer herself. She represents fiction and nonfiction projects for the adult market as well as select young adult fiction. In fiction, she looks for literary and commercial fiction, upmarket women's fiction, smart thrillers, mysteries with a twist or unusual protagonist, historical fiction, and contemporary YA. In nonfiction, she seeks narrative nonfiction and memoirs as well as prescriptive nonfiction written by experts in their field. She has a soft spot for lifestyle, humor, food, travel, and current events topics. In any genre, she looks for accomplished writing, compelling characters, fresh voices, and timely themes. Amy has an MFA in Writing from the University of San Francisco and a BA in English Literature from Bates College.
