Spring News & Writing Contest

N/F Contest Winner 2013

Happy Nowruz!

I do believe the ancient Persians were the ones who really got it right. New Year should be celebrated just as spring is upon us -- fresh and bright and filled with new hope.

To help inspire you to new words this spring, our annual writing contest is just about to open! April 1st is the day! This is our 22nd contest, and there are NO limits on your springtime creativity. Write to any topic you'd like -- we have four categories for you to enter your work: Storyteller's Award, Poetry, Non-Fiction and Writing For Young People. Full details can be found HERE, but you should know that the prize money is fantastic: $1000 for the winner in each category, $150 for the runners-up. You'll also have your story published in our Writing Anthology, and receive a copy, too.

And just in case you think this is just another contest, here's a little news for you.

Last year we had a writer enter the contest with 3 separate stories. All three stories made the short lists of their respective categories, and the writer went on to win an unprecedented First Prize with TWO of those stories. And just recently that winner, Jennifer Manuel, just signed with Carolyn Forde of Westwood Creative Agency. I asked Jennifer if I could share the news with you and she said: "Absolutely! Got to let people know about the amazing opportunity SiWC gives writers!"

So, sharpen your pencils, writers! As a special incentive, anyone who enters the contest the very first day [by midnight, April 1, 2014] will receive a copy of one of our past anthologies absolutely free! [This offer is limited to those who enter by email and pay their entry fees using our PayPal button.] Why not spring into the season with new words and a shot at our amazing contest prizes!

Once again, contest details are HERE. Any questions? Email me at kcdyer@siwc.ca, or you can follow me on twitter @kcdyer.

You can start sending your entries in on April 1st -- No Foolin'!
