In yesterday's newsletter, I offered a book prize to the person who could decipher our hints and come up with our theme for the year. Thanks for making it lots of fun for me, with a tremendous number of guesses coming in fast and furious, and no one wanting to admit defeat.
I'm delighted to award the theme-guessing book prize to Shari Green, who came up with not only the right answer, but a bunch of very creative alternatives, too. Thanks also to several others for your guesses. Loved seeing what you came up with. Unsurprisingly, attempting to distract writers by using an opposite that refers to printed text for the clue worked brilliantly, and the most common wrong guesses were about words and books and paper. Others were actually terrific, original ideas we should look at for...
Still no winner in our theme contest! Lots of most excellent guesses, but no one's come very close yet. Keep trying!
If you're following along, trying to figure out what our theme might be for this year, hint #1 is in our newletter. Hint #2 is on our Twitter feed. Hint #3 is this: the first hint was meant to make you think of opposites. (And possibly it was also designed to lead you down the garden path into things to do with words, too, since the opportunity was there for distraction from the right answer by choosing those particular opposites for the hint. *g*)
Got this in our email over the summer:Roses.jpg
Congratulations, Tamiko! We're thrilled for you, too!

And the Swayze Agency will be back at #SiWC13 this year, along with a ton of other agents and publshers. Want to check them out? Look HERE for agents and HERE for editors! And then come join us for our best year ever!
