Wednesday already? How did that happen?

Apologies for keeping you waiting for these today, but I hope you'll agree they're entirely worth the wait.

Reaching into the trusty hat... ahh, those two! Excellent. Lucky you.

First up today is the only SiWC presenter I'm aware of who's also been a Jeopardy! champion. Wouldn't you like to have that on your resume? Meet multi-talented author Boyd Morrison:

Boyd Morrison is a Seattle-based author, actor, engineer, and Jeopardy! champion. He started his career at Johnson Space Center, where he flew on NASA’s Vomit Comet, the plane used to train astronauts for zero gravity. He went on to earn a PhD from Virginia Tech, develop twelve patents at RCA, and manage a video game testing group at...

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. It's the last day of April. Do you know what your May writing goals are yet? Tomorrow brings a whole new month, a fresh page, a new start. Why not set some goals today and be ready to go when tomorrow comes? Share them here in the comments or on Twitter using #thisdaywewrite. Putting them in print for us to read is a great way to commit to them.

But before you do that, it is Monday, and so time to meet a couple more of our SiWC 2012 presenters. Or maybe, just because it's a rainy Monday and I'm feeling generous, I'll introduce you to three. Why not! The random presenter generator (ie the hat) has come up with two authors and an agent today. Please join me in welcoming them to SiWC this year!

First up for today, meet author ...

KathyChung, Wednesday April 25, 2012 - 10:53am

It's mid-week. How's your writing going? Post here in the comments or on Twitter using #thisdaywewrite and let us know!

The random presenter introductions continue today with two writers who both happen to know more than a little about keeping readers on the edges of their seats.

First up today, say hello to Grant McKenzie:

Born in Scotland, living in Canada and writing American thrillers, Grant likes to wear a toque and kilt with his six-guns. His debut novel, SWITCH, earned fantastic reviews internationally when it was published by Random House UK and Penguin Canada, plus in translation by Heyne Germany, Spring International Publishers of Taiwan and AST Russia. His second novel, No Cry For Help, surprised even his newfound fans by being even more...

KathyChung, Tuesday April 24, 2012 - 12:50pm

Hello, again. I hope you're enjoying following our presenter reveals as much as I'm enjoying revealing them to you! Here at SiWC Central, we're SO excited about our 20th annual conference and the amazing people who've agreed to be a part of it that it's a lot of fun for us to tell you about them.

Will you have work ready to pitch this October? If so, perhaps you'll end up face-to-face across a table with one of today's two randomly-selected presenters, both agents.

First up, say hello to Victoria Marini, with an introduction in her own words:

I am an associate literary agent with the Gelfman Schneider Literary Agency, As the newest (and shortest) member of the...

Monday again already?! How did that happen? I hope you all had the most marvellous of weekends and are all set for a new week of writing. Have you been finding time to meet your writing goals? Don't forget, this day we write! If you're on Twitter, use the hashtag #thisdaywewrite to tell us your writing goals and check in and let us know how you're doing.

But we know a good writing day requires both inspiration and procrastination, so once again we bring you both, in the form of introductions to a couple of our SiWC 2012 presenters.

The trusty hat got knocked on the floor last night, so the possible choices are freshly shaken up, ready for today's random picks. Here we go!

This first presenter's travels this year include Lithuania and the UK, but come October, she'...

KathyChung, Friday April 20, 2012 - 10:08am

Happy Friday! Here at SiWC Central, a glorious, sunny morning has emerged from a night more suited to November than April, so we can't help but be cheerful this morning. So we figured we'd pass on the joy and give you not one, not two, but THREE of this year's presenters.  Let's see what the hat has in store for you today...

First up, brand new to SiWC this year, please welcome the amazing Jane Espenson:

Jane Espenson has written for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, The O.C., Gilmore Girls, Dollhouse, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, Game of Thrones, and Torchwood: Miracle Day among other series. She is currently a consulting producer on ABC's...

KathyChung, Tuesday April 17, 2012 - 2:43pm

Another day, another chance to introduce you to a couple of this year's presenters.

This time, the trusty hat gave me two agents. Say hello to Donald Maass and Carly Watters.

A literary agent in New York, Donald Maass’s agency sells more than 150 novels every year to major publishers in the U.S. and overseas. He is the author of The Career Novelist (1996), Writing the Breakout Novel (2001), Writing the Breakout Novel Workbook (2004) and The Fire in Fiction (2009). His latest book, The Breakout Novelist: Craft and Strategies for Career Fiction Writers, was released last March. He is a past president of the Association of Authors’ Representatives, Inc.

Welcome back,  Don!

Happy Monday! Thought I'd pop in and introduce you to a couple more presenters this afternoon. What say you? Time to reach into the hat again? I think so...

Man, it's hard to do this randomly. There are so many great people to tell you about. But the hat rules with an iron... ummm, maybe not. It is just a hat. But it holds the future of this blog post in its han- er, hmmm. Maybe I should get to it. Here we go!

First up today, say hello to Mary Balogh.

Mary Balogh grew up in Wales and moved to Kipling, Saskatchewan, more than forty years ago on what was supposed to be a two-year teaching contract. She stayed to marry and raise a family of three, to teach high school English and ultimately to put into practice her lifelong dream of being a novelist....

KathyChung, Friday April 13, 2012 - 4:18pm

The time has come, ladies and gentlemen, to start letting you in on some of our exciting plans for this year by introducing you to some of our presenters. I know you've been waiting - some of you more patiently than others - for the details. So I figured tonight, I'd share at least a couple with you.

But where to start? How do I pick? The only fair thing to do, I think, is to put all the names in a hat. So I've done that, and I'm going to pull out two names to tell you about tonight...

First up, this year, thanks to the trusty hat, is a new agent to us. Please give a warm welcome to Laura Bradford:

Laura Bradford established the Bradford Literary Agency in 2001. She considers herself an editorial-focused agent and takes a hands-on approach to...
