CC Humphreys

Word On The Street, Vancouver 2009

Great day today at Word on the Street. Had a blast making the rounds, talking about the conference and meeting the glowing literati of the Vancouver area. Tons of our presenters were on the street, performing, schmoozing, having a ball.

It was the first official 'shadow' outing for my successor, Kathy Chung. Kathy will be keeping a close eye on the workings of the conference this year, as she'll be taking over as conference coordinator in 2010. We'll be profiling her on this blog very soon.

The Book Broads [Angela Crocker, Kim Plumly and Peggy Richardson] interviewed Kathy and me for a video post on their blog. We'll post a link to it here when it goes live. We talked about all the great stuff we have planned for the conference this year -- it's going to be a winner! The Book Broads will all be volunteering at the conference -- make sure to say hi when you see them this year!

Other SiWC 2009 presenters at WOTS included:  Annabel Lyon, who was just this week included on the Giller Prize longlist for her new novel The Golden Mean, was interviewed by former presenter favourite Stephen Galloway.

CC Humphreys Puts the Bite on the Holidays...

SiWC 2008 alum Chris Humphreys will be doing a reading from his new book this week:

 Sez CC:

I am doing a reading from my new novel: 'Vlad, The Last Confession' at the Central Library downtown, Alma van Dusen Room, on December 12th at 7.30. Hope to see you all there!

Presenter CC Humphreys has an New Blog...& Podcast!

Something new on the horizon -- one of this year's stellar list of presenters has created a blog -- with a twist.

Chris (CC) Humphreys is well-known as the author of a number of swash-buckling adventure stories -- but before he put pen to paper, he spent a lot of time treading the boards. If you click here you'll find his new blog, chock-ablock with all things adventurous from Dracula's Castle. He has plans to blog about the whole writing process, and a ready-made link for you to set up in your Reader. But if you click here, you'll find him putting his oratorial skills to work, with a podcast paralleling the material he writes about in his blog.

So skip on over and get a taste of some of the material that Chris will be talking about when he comes to Surrey this fall.

And stay tuned to this space -- contest information coming up soon!
