Author Janice Hardy's Getting Some Attention...

...lately, especially in the blogsphere.

Guess that's what happens to you if you attend the Surrey International Writers' Conference as an unpublished writer, and walk away ...with an agent, a book contract and a great book deal!

Want to learn more? Then, first have a look HERE at Agent Kristin Nelson's blog. Agent Kristin talks about Janice's Query letter and why her pitch was so successful.

Then, hop on over HERE to Janice's own blog, where she shares a visual peek at what her marked-up galleys look like after the copy editors have been over them.

A true insider's look into the publishing industry.

We're so proud of Janice as one of our success stories!

(Tips of the hat to SiWC alum Katrina Archer and Pamela Patchet for pointing me in the right direction!)

Success Story -- Chapter Two

This is Kristin Nelson, founder of the Nelson Literary Agency. She's been a guest presenter at SiWC many times, including last year. It turns out that last year was a special one for her...

I just got a note from Kristin last night. She wanted to let me know that SiWC attendee Janice Hardy (who successfully pitched her story to Kristin last year at the conference) had just signed a MAJOR* deal with Harper Collins.

Congratulations Janice!!!! (And -- way to go Kristin!) We are thrilled for you both.

Here's the announcement.

CHILDREN’S: FANTASY

Janice Hardy’s debut fantasy trilogy beginning with THE PAIN MERCHANTS, about a teen war orphan who becomes a pawn in a bigger political game when her uncanny ability to heal by drawing pain turns out to be the only weapon she has to save her sister, to Donna Bray at Balzer & Bray/HarperCollins for their launch list, in a pre-empt, in a very good deal by Kristin Nelson at Nelson Literary Agency (World English).

*(And that's Major, as in six figures Major. Whoo-hoo, Janice!)
