Wanted: Volunteers

Have you been thinking about signing up as a volunteer at SiWC this year? Now's the time. Our amazing volunteer coordinators, Camille and Shilo, tell me they're in need of a few more enthusiastic, caring, energetic people to join the volunteer crew. We love our volunteers, and couldn't run the conference without them.

If you've already committed your time, thank you! If you're curious about what's involved, would like more information, or would like to apply, click "contact" on the header bar here at our website (www.siwc.ca, in case you're viewing this elsewhere!) and send Camille and Shilo a note on the "volunteering" contact form. They'd love to hear from you!

Volunteers!

We're always looking for 'em -- our conference could not exist without our volunteers! We love them as the dragon loves his gold horde...

as the eagle loves her sushi...

as the librarian loves his first editions...

So when I read THIS today on BookNinja George's blog, I realized it was a Must Link.

You too can become a Literary Escort, with all the pleasures that might entail.

All you need to do is ask...

PS The person to ask is our volunteer coordinator Camille Netherton.  You can find her under the 'Contact Us' tab on the menu bar to your right.

Want to Volunteer??

Seems we've had a little problem with Camille's, (our volunteer coordinator) email address.

If you would like to volunteer for the conference in any capacity, please email me at kcdyer@siwc.ca and I will make sure Camille gets your message!

Or...leave a comment on this post and we'll get back to you right away.

We Heart Volunteers

 We Need YOU!

The one thing that sets the Surrey International Writers' Conference apart from all the pale imitations out there is the remarkable pool of volunteers we have. Our volunteers drive this conference -- they are our life-blood. They are a part of every detail of this conference and we could not do it without them.

Being a volunteer is a great way to get a taste of the conference, if you've never been -- a chance to rub elbows with your favourite writers and with editors, agents and publishers from across the industry.

Our wonderful Volunteer Coordinator, Camille Netherton, is right now putting together her final lists. If you are interested in lending a hand this year -- helping to drive presenters to and from the airport, introducing speakers, manning our front desk -- then send Camille an email and she'll put you in our volunteer loop. You can reach Camille at c.netherton@siwc.ca or you can send me an email here and I will connect you.

Join us! You'll be glad you did.

A Virgin No More...

That's right, unlike most of the amazing writers who get this newsletter, I am a blog virgin. Not many of those left these days!

kc has done such a great job keeping everything up to date and making sure everyone is informed  that I thought she deserved a break for a day, while I introduce you to the team behind the scenes of the Surrey International Writers' Conference.

Most visible at the event would be our fearless Conference Coordinator, kc dyer. kc has taken on a huge project coordinating this conference and does an amazing job stalking, I mean inviting, presenters from the far reaching industry of publishing.

With an energy and creative zest that I have never seen in one person before, we have ourselves in good hands with her. (And she has some very cool tights!)
