Workshop Details

Happy Wednesday!

I'm pleased to tell you that many of our workshop details are now posted. Check out the details by day on the left side bar menu here at www.siwc.ca. Click workshop details at the top of each day page to see the full list of workshops for the day.

We'll add more information as it becomes available, but most of the workshops now have descriptions. Enjoy!

One more day!

Just one more day until SiWC registration opens at NOON, JUNE 7.

Don't forget to register early to take advantage of the opportunity to lock in last year's prices in June only.

Wondering what to expect from this year's presenters? Our workshop titles are now available! Check out conference details on the left sidebar menu here at www.siwc.ca. Detailed descriptions to come, so check, back over the coming weeks for those, but the tentative schedule is up and will give you a good idea of what we have in store.

Missed Handouts?

Did you miss getting a handout in one of your workshops at SiWC 2010 this year? You may be in luck!

Some of our SiWC 2010 presenters have provided us with digital copies of their handouts so you can get the ones you missed. If the one you're looking for isn't there, chances are it's available directly from the presenter on his or her website - check them out!

Our handout page is here: http://www.siwc.ca/presnotes/index.html It's a password-protected page for SiWC attendees only. The user name is siwc. Take a wild stab at what Chris Mathieson presentation topic is the (two words together as one) password, but if trying to figure it out makes you see red dots in front of your eyes, email me at the usual - kathychung at siwc dot ca - and I'll send it to you.

Workshops up!

Welcome to June. Registration opens tomorrow at noon!

A large number of our workshops are now posted under the conference menu on the left. This is NOT a complete list; we still have a few to add, but many of them are there now so you can get a good idea of what to expect this October. Have a look!

Mid-June Q & A

Now that we are gearing up for SiWC 2008, the questions are starting to come in fast and furious. We have done a complete overhaul of the website this year, but things are slowly coming together -- and looking FANTASTIC, thanks to WebWizard Dale. A few bits and pieces are still missing, though, so I'm going to take this opportunity to answer a couple of questions that have come my way. And keep an eye on the website -- there are changes every day.

Registration?

Yep -- it's coming! Right now it's looking like mid-July, as usual. When we have a firm date, you'll hear it here first! As the time nears, we'll have the registration link all set to go from this very site. Of course, you can always register by telephone, too, but again that doesn't open until mid-July. We have a new phone number this year, so we'll post that, too.

Schedule of Workshops & Panels?

On its way! The first big job we have to do every year is get our faculty in place. Once we have the names, bios and photos of all the presenters on the site (and since there are more than 70 of 'em, it takes a while...), we turn to producing our event brochure. And when it is safely at the printers, we take all the info from the brochure, bump up the detail a little and get the information on the website. As everything else is progressing apace, you can expect to see the worikshop information start to appear in short order.

Contest Anthologies?

We still have a few copies left from 2007. If you'd like one, you can call the School District office of our hard-working chair Tara Holt at 604-587-2302 and order a copy for $12 plus shipping.

More soon...
