From the Contest Coordinator 2008

Welcome to the 16th year of our Surrey International Writers’ Conference Writing contest. We are very excited to be given the opportunity, in this competition, to review some of the best and brightest entries from writers hailing from Canada, the United States and all around the world.

This year we have returned to our September deadline -- September 5, 2008. Please read the contest entry information carefully so your work gets to the correct location on time for our judges to give it due consideration.

We continue to offer prizes in four categories -- Storyteller's Award for fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry and Writing for Young People. Submitted works go through a minimum of three levels of screening, and are judged anonymously at all levels. All decisions by the judges are final.

Our deepest thanks go out to the contest assistants and to our esteemed judges for their energy and enthusiasm. Many thanks to our wonderful sponsors: LPWordsolutions, Simon Fraser Writing & Publishing program, Quills Poetry Journal, kc dyer, Orca Books and of course Diana Gabaldon and Jack Whyte.

The deadline for the contest this year is
Friday, September 5, 2008.
