Surrey International Writers' Conference Newsletter

align="left" height="124" hspace="4" width="150">Hi Everyone,
Right now it's all about Registration here in the heart of SiWC Central. Your devoted team are hard at work, getting ready for opening day: July 17, 2008.
We are currently putting a new registration engine in place that we are hoping will give you a much easier on-line registration experience than in past years. You'll be able to access it right from our website. Of course, if you prefer, you can also register by telephone after July 17, 2008. From July 17 - August 22, 2008, you can call 604-587-2302. After August 25th, our new, easier-to-remember phone number kicks in: 604-594-2000.
But how can you register without knowing the details of the programming? Well, question no longer -- programming details are now available on our website at www.siwc.ca. I can foresee that cloning is going to be a big topic of discussion at this year's conference -- as in cloning yourself, so you can be in two, three or four places at once, all the better to take in the incredible selection of offerings we have in the way of workshops, panels, keynote speeches, night owl events ... and more.
Go ahead -- scamper on over to the website and have a look. Just as a sample, here's the link to the Friday Workshops:
SiWC 2008 Friday Workshop Schedule.
Back again? Some pretty amazing workshops there, eh? Wait until you see Saturday and Sunday!
Now, this year, we have a couple of very special evening events planned for the Friday and Saturday nights. I don't want to give too much away, yet, but let's just say that, for the first time EVER, we are going to have to book the dining room space for BOTH evenings after the banquet, as no other room in the house will hold the numbers who will want to attend these amazing events.
If any of this piques your interest, let me just remind you that if you are a regular reader of our new blog (or better still -- you subscribe to our blog's RSS feed, and have it brought directly to your desktop) you'll be among the first to hear of anything new and exciting plans for the conference. This newsletter update goes out regularly, of course, but for day to day updates, nothing beats the blog for learning things fast. Not sure how to sign on? Just follow the link at the very bottom of the menu on our website, and it will connect you with our RSS overview, written and programmed by our astounding WebWizard Dale. (Or, by the magic of webwizardry, to be taken directly there, just click here: RSS Overview.)
Our hard-copy brochures are just about ready to go to print, so if you'd like one of those, just head over to the contact form on the website. You can ask questions, request a brochure, find out about the trade show or the book signing -- it's the best and fastest route to having your questions answered.
And don't forget, the countdown is on -- according to www.siwc.ca , there are only 70 days left to get your submissions in for this year's writing contest. We offer a first prize of $1000 and publication in our anthology -- a pretty good incentive to give it a shot. Put your pens to paper and write yourself into our record books. Find out more about the conference on our website, or by clicking here: SiWC 2008 Writing Contest.
Have a great summer...and keep writing!
