For a thriller novel, it's all about the pacing, so that readers keep turning the pages long past their bedtimes. But a fast pace doesn't necessarily mean constant action; a great roller coaster ride is as much about the suspenseful build-up of tension as it is about the thrills. Boyd Morrison, whose adventure novels have been featured on the Indie Next list and have earned starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and RT Book Reviews, will explore how to balance a breakneck storytelling speed with the character conflict and setting details that make a compelling novel.

An explosion in self-publishing success stories has given writers hope for those manuscripts that have been languishing in drawers or computers. But is it better to query agents in the desire to find a traditional publisher for your work or should you just post that book on the Kindle, iBooks, and Nook? Boyd Morrison has done both, becoming the first self-published Kindle author to secure a Big 6 publishing contract, and his books went on to be bestsellers published in 20 languages. Now he is going both routes with his next book, The Roswell Conspiracy, and he shares his experiences and lessons-learned from his adventures in the self-publishing and traditional publishing worlds.
