In her first position in publishing, Patricia Ocampo divided her time between the children’s editorial departments at HarperCollins US and HarperCollins Canada, working with bestselling, award-winning authors such as Lemony Snicket, Kenneth Oppel, Arthur Slade, Allan Stratton, and Susan Juby. She then moved on to sales and marketing at HarperCollins and Hachette Book Group. With her experience in diverse areas of publishing, Patricia Ocampo knew the next step had to be agenting, where she could be both editor and businessperson. She joined Transatlantic Agency in 2010.
Patricia is focused on finding debut authors who are genuinely interested in the craft of writing (i.e. they take writing courses, join writing groups, expect and accept editorial criticism, revise carefully, etc.). She is looking for early readers, middle-grade fiction and non-fiction, and young adult fiction and non-fiction. She is looking for illustrators but does not represent picture-book authors. She will look at any children's book so long as it isn't a YA paranormal love triangle. A paranormal romance? Sure. A love triangle? Send it over. But a paranormal love triangle? Goodbye.
