Shelley Harrison Rae started writing as an outlet during her angst-ridden teens. Since then, she has published poetry, short stories, personal essays, magazine and newspaper articles. She facilitates workshops, conducts interviews, works as a manuscript coach and is a successful grant writer for non-profit organizations.

Since 1997 her supportive Wordlink Workshops have helped writers banish the critic and bring their stories to life.

Her experience with writing and workshops, and the study of counselling skills, has taught her how to stimulate creative energy with writers of all levels. She believes that every life tells a story and her passion is people and their stories. She shares her life with her husband Graham on BC's beautiful Sunshine Coast.

Workshops & Panels:

Writing From the Inside Out

Time: Friday 3:30pm

Writing from the inside out comes from what lies beneath the surface; from your heart and your memory. Join Shelley Harrison Rae and learn how to banish the critical voice that whispers in your ear and give yourself permission to write whatever wants to be written. Find the creative confidence to produce believable characters with real emotions in an authentic world.

Evoking the Senses (Basics)

Time: Sunday 9:30am

Each time we write, we paint pictures with our words-- the challenge is to paint a clear picture. Follow the cardinal rule of show don’t tell; the more sensual your writing, the better it will be.
