Night Owl Events at SiWC – a post from our conference ambassador

Here’s our conference ambassador, Hayley, here to fill you in on the great night owl events happening for SiWC registrants this year:

It’s almost time.

The suitcases are packed. The flights are boarding. The hotel is waiting. It’s time for SiWC 2018!

With workshops, blue pencil appointments, pitching and more, the conference weekend will be packed, but if that’s not enough SiWC for you-never fear! We’ve got a few extra events for you night owls to keep the magic going at the end of the day.

FRIDAY

Michael Slade’s Shock Theatre: Hearkening back to the days of classic horror, mystery, and noir, Shock Theatre is a live radio play event put on by our very own SiWC presenters. Stick around after dinner for an evening of chills, laughs, and maybe even blood-curdling screams. 9pm, Guildford Ballroom

SATURDAY

Cocktail Hour in the Guildford Ballroom: During the Saturday evening author signing, full conference attendees can come to the Guildford Ballroom before dinner. Once you’ve gotten your books signed, come choose a table before the dinner rush, and enjoy a drink from the cash bar. 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Open Mic: After dinner, check out our open mic event, hosted by Eileen Cook. Read aloud or listen and support your peers. 9:30 pm, Tynehead 1

Karaoke Night: Looking for something a little more high energy? New this year, join us for karaoke. Sing all your favourites, or cheer on your fellow writers as they take to the stage. 9:30pm, Green Timbers 1

Can’t find your friends? Use our meet-up hashtag, #SiWCMeet to coordinate on twitter, or see what’s happening throughout the conference weekend. Whether you’re attending alone or with a group, you’re sure to find other writers in the bar or gathering throughout the hotel who will make you feel welcome.

However you spend your conference weekend, we hope you have a magical time!
