For more than twenty years, Maggie DeVries has been writing novels and picture books for children and teens, but her own life keeps calling to her, her adult life. Her memoir Missing Sarah tells the story of her sister’s disappearance and her search for her. Her upcoming teen novel Rabbit Ears is fiction drawn from what she has learned since about that same sister’s life. Now she wants to write another memoir, focusing more on herself. In this workshop, Maggie will guide a discussion about the overlapping terrains of fiction and non-fiction, when life experience is the subject matter. Her own work will serve as example, and we will explore the benefits and the pitfalls of each choice.
