At its most basic, setting anchors characters in a tangible sense of place. But it can be so much more. In this workshop we’ll explore how powerful setting can be when it’s filtered through a character’s viewpoint. Setting filtered through viewpoint not only creates a sense of place but can also trigger memories, express mood, reveal back story, drive suspense, and more. In addition, we’ll also discuss how a character’s personal spaces, carefully drawn, can provide insight into personality and past.
