In the Caribbean, the speculative mode – whether fantastical, folkloric, or futurist – has always been accepted and celebrated in our literature. From the 1950s to the present decade, Caribbean speculative fiction has won attention from reviewers, academics, and award juries around the world. This workshop presents an ‘essential reading’ overview of key Caribbean writers in this genre, and the historical and cultural background that informs their works.
