Antonia Banyard is an author-editor who writes for children and adults and has worked in book publishing for over twenty years. Her book-length publications include the adult novel Never Going Back (2010) and Dangerous Crossings! (2007), middle reader non-fiction, which was nominated for a Red Maple award. She is also the co-author of Water Wow!: An Infographic Exploration (2016) and Eat Up!: An Infographic Exploration of Food (2017), both for middle readers. Both infographic books were nominated for the Silver Birch and Red Cedar awards. As well, Water Wow! was a finalist for the Norma Fleck Award, won the EUREKA! Nonfiction Children’s Book Award, the Science Communication Award from the American Institute of Physics, and is a Skipping Stones Honor book. Her two board books, City Bugs and City Critters, were released in September 2018. City Bugs was selected by the TPL’s First and Best List. City Critters was selected as part of the Top 10 Recommended Reads for the TD Summer Reading Club in 2019. She is currently writing a book for middle readers with activist Rob Greenfield. She studied writing at the University of Victoria and the University of Queensland.
In publishing, she has worked for Beach Holme Publishers, Whitecap Books, Annick Press, and is currently a publishing associate at Greystone Books. Originally from South Africa and Zambia, she now lives in Nelson, BC with her family.
