I joined the CookeMcDermid Agency in 2010 (when it was The Cooke Agency), and specialize in children’s literature (mostly middle-grade and YA with some picture books), and narrative driven non-fiction along with some literary fiction and quirky non-fiction for adults.

My client list, and some recent achievements by them, includes Vivek Shraya – an artist whose body of work crosses the boundaries of music, literature, visual art, and film, and whose work of non-fiction I’M AFRAID OF MEN was a National Bestseller in 2018; Ellen Keith, whose debut novel THE DUTCH WIFE spent weeks on both the Canadian and US Bestsellers lists in 2018; Janice Lynn Mather, whose debut YA novel, LEARNING TO BREATHE was nominated for a Governor General’s Literary Award in 2018; Natalie Morrill, whose debut novel, THE GHOSTKEEPER won the Canadian Jewish Literary award in 2018 for Best Fiction; Cherie Dimaline, author of the multiple award-winning YA novel, THE MARROW THIEVES, whose highly anticipated new novel EMPIRE OF WILD will be published in September of 2019; Sarah Henstra, whose novel THE RED WORD won the 2018 Governor General’s Award for Fiction, and whose new YA novel, WE CONTAIN MULTITUDES is publishing in May 2019 in Canada and the US; Erin Frances Fisher, whose debut collection of short fiction has been nominated for both a BC Book Award, and the Danuta Gleed Literary Award; Lee Edward Fodi, author and illustrator, whose MG novel THE SECRET OF ZOONE published in April 2019 in both Canada and the US; Danny Ramadan, whose novel THE CLOTHESLINE SWING was longlisted for CBC’s Canada Reads, the Sunburst Award and the Lambda Literary Awards, and won the Independent Publisher Book Award for Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Trans Fiction in 2018; David Carroll, a multiple award-winning and nominated author whose novels SIGHT UNSEEN and ULTRA have landed on award lists such as the Red Cedar Awards, the Sunburst Awards, the OLA Silver Birch Awards, the Cyblis Awards, and the Manitoba Young Readers’ Choice Awards; Farzana Doctor, a celebrated and highly awarded author, whose books are often seen on numerous ‘best-of’ lists every year, and whose most recent novel SEVEN will be publishing in 2020; and Téa Mutonji, an award-winning poet and writer who was named emerging writer of the year (2017) by the Ontario Book Publishers Organization, and whose debut collection of short fiction, SHUT UP YOU’RE PRETTY, published in April 2019 and is receiving rave reviews; among many other talented established and debut authors from all over the world.
