From conference coordinator Kathy

Hello!

It's the second most exciting time of the year for us here at SiWC Central (the first, of course, being the conference itself), registration time!

Registration for SiWC 2022, our 30th annual conference, opens at noon Pacific on Wednesday, June 1. Access registration from our website at https://www.siwc.ca/registration/ where a "register now" buttom will magically appear as soon as registration is open. On that page, you'll also find all the registration package information.

Our master class schedule has been posted on our website, and we aim to have a good chunk of the workshop schedule up before registration opens next week. In general terms, virtual conference attendees will see a comparable amount of content to the last couple of years, some of which will be filmed on site and some taught from home, and in-person attendees will have a similar amount of in-person content as in past years plus access to the virtual content.

Especially if you're planning to attend in person, please set a reminder or make a note in your day book of our registration opening. We don't want you to be disappointed. Last time we were in person, we sold out in a matter of hours, and while we can't predict what effect Covid will have on how long that will take this year, with reduced numbers to create more personal space in meeting rooms, we expect things to fill up pretty quickly. We have a fair bit of room for virtual attendees, so virtual passes will sell out less quickly, but we still recommend signing up early to avoid disappointment.

Once again this year, we're offering a sliding scale for our virtual conference in hopes of making the conference financially accessible to as many people as we can. If you're unable to register but qualify for any of our scholarships, please do apply. We have several scholarships to give out this year and don't want anyone who could potentially win one to self-reject. Details are on our website. If you are able to register, you are still very welcome to apply for any scholarship for which you meet the criteria, but please go ahead and register early anyway to make sure you have a spot. If you win a scholarship, we'll refund you and will be able to let someone in from the waiting list, so it'll be win-win for you and for them!

What if I want to come in person but it's sold out? Email our administrator Jen at registration@siwc.ca with the subject line "Waitlist Me Please." In the body of the email please let her know whether you want to be waitlisted for a full package, a basic package, or both. Waiting list requests will be honoured in the order in which they are received. And if you want to, go ahead and register for the virtual conference. If you get to the top of the waiting list and are already a virtual registrant, we'll just charge you the difference and change your registration.

Once you register, you'll receive an immediate email confirmation. If you don't see it in your inbox within a few minutes, please check your spam folder. It's important to read this email to make sure all your registration information is correct and to check whether we need any further information from you.

More soon!
Kathy
