From conference coordinator Kathy
Outside of conference time in October, this coming Wednesday is the most exciting day of the year for us: registration opening day!
Registration for our virtual #SiWC20, SiWC at Home, opens at noon Pacific time on Wednesday, June 24. The link will be on our registration page at noon, so don't forget to refresh the page if you're looking for it! www.siwc.ca/registration.
Although this is a fully virtual event, we are still capping attendee numbers to help maintain the community feel that's such an important part of SiWC.
We're working to make this virtual event feel as close to the real thing as we can. You'll have about 50 workshops and master classes to chose from and there will be keynotes, social spaces, special events, night owls, and fun traditions, too, all held online. Many sessions will be recorded for temporary attendee access post-conference to accommodate people in different time zones and for whom life gets in the way of participating all day every day during the conference.
We understand many of you have had your finances adversely affected by Covid, but still need something awesome to look forward to. We've got you covered. Applications are open for our scholarships, and we're also offering a sliding scale on conference registration so those of you who need a discount in order to attend can have one. You'll find that information on our registration form once registration opens. Please note that SiWC is not-for-profit and sets our prices to cover our costs, so we deeply appreciate your paying full price if you comfortably can. Thanks to requests from our amazing alumni, our registration form will also offer the option to contribute anonymously to helping pay for the attendance of someone who can't pay full price this year. Our sincere thanks to those of you who reached out to ask for that option.
Some of our crew made a video for you because we were getting so excited about this year's conference even with the need for social distancing. Huge thanks to our excellent board member Jenn for pulling all the pieces together. You can see it here.
Hope to see lots of your names streaming in to our system on Wednesday!
Kathy Chung, SiWC Conference Coordinator
