In Person Conference

James Penco is an editor based in Vancouver, BC. He’s currently Assistant Editor at the independent publisher Greystone Books, where he edits a broad array of adult nonfiction titles, in subjects ranging from animal biology, literary nature writing, LGBT memoir, climate science, and biography. One title he edited was shortlisted for the 2025 Wainwright Prize for Conservation Writing, and he has volunteered for several years at the Vancouver Writers Fest. Always happy to connect with new and emerging writers, he’s currently looking for nonfiction manuscripts with a literary and voice-driven feel, particularly ones that deal with social issues, queer stories, health topics, or the natural world.
