Whether you’re submitting to a publisher or an agent or whether you’re preparing to captivate the reader, opening pages are a critical part of getting readers to pick up and enjoy your story. Whether you’re writing fiction or nonfiction, brilliant beginnings require effective decision-making and careful attention to detail. In this workshop, writers will look at a few sample works while exploring a series of important questions – some for the early stages of drafting a manuscript and some for those critical fine-tuning stages near the end – all with a singular goal: grabbing the reader’s attention from the very first page.
