Aren X. Tulchinsky

Aren X. Tulchinsky (he/him), is a novelist, video editor, screenwriter and writing mentor. His critically acclaimed novel, THE FIVE BOOKS OF MOSES LAPINSKY was a Toronto Book Award finalist, won the One Book One Vancouver Prize and was awarded a permanent plaque in Toronto by Project Bookmark Canada. He was the 2023 Writer in Residence at the Vancouver Public Library.

He has edited and written on numerous television series, including David Suzuki’s The Nature of Things (CBC), Queen of the Oil Patch (APTN), Border Security (Global), The Bachelor Canada (CityTV) and High Arctic Haulers (CBC). His short film Ms. Thing has screened in over 50 film festivals Internationally.

Aren is a mentor with Vancouver Manuscript Intensive, where he works with emerging writers one to one, for a sixth month course. (https://www.vancouvermanuscriptintensive.com) He is also a private writing coach and is available to coach and mentor emerging writers, (https://www.arenxtulchinsky.com/mentor) Aren was the film editor on acclaimed Indigenous director, Jules’ Koostachin’s ground breaking documentary film on the state of Indigenous Cinema in Canada, NiiMisSak: Sisters in Film. Aren is currently working on a new novel set in 1930’s Berlin. In his free time, Aren is a boxer, a gardener and a sailor.
